LaPorte County deputies apprehended an armed fugitive during Friday’s snowstorm.
It was around 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 19, when deputies arrived at the home in the 700 block of Dorothy Lane about a welfare check.
Deputies had prior knowledge of a wanted person, Beck Serles, 26, to have been periodically staying at the home.
Shortly after arriving, deputies determined Serles had just taken off.
Despite the blizzard-like conditions, deputies pursued Serles.
Footprints in the freshly fallen snow led them to a storage structure that was attached to the garage of a home located in the 100 block of Lura Lane.
Deputies converged on the storage structure and found Seres inside.
He was arrested for the following offenses:
•Possession of a Firearm, Prior Conviction, L5 Felony
•Residential Entry, L6 Felony
•Resisting Law Enforcement, Class A Misdemeanor
•Marshall County Warrant (Theft – Misdemeanor)
Serles was taken to the LaPorte County Jail and is being held without bond.
