Three people charged in connection with abuse of 3-year-old child

A man has been charged with battery and strangulation after allegedly abusing a three-year-old in South Bend.

22-year-old Dorian Leaver was given the charges on January 25 after police responded to a call regarding a child with a broken arm and several bruises.

According to ABC 57 News, Leaver originally told police the victim had fallen down a set of steps, but he later admitted to lying.

Police say that Leaver had broke the child’s arm the day before and that he had choked the child several times.

Two witnesses to the incident, 22-year-olds Amy Jackson and Ian Gosnell reportedly say Leaver hurting the child but did not physically attempt to stop him and told police that the child had broke his arm by falling down the steps.

They are being charged with neglect and false informing.
