Investigators are still looking into the cause and origin of the multiple fatality fire that happened in South Bend last month.

The fire happened on January 21 on LaPorte Avenue.

Investigators are awaiting autopsy and toxicology reports for the six juvenile victims, and they have scheduled a joint scene investigation with insurance companies involved with the property.

At this point in the investigation, there is no indication of foul play in the incident, though it remains important to preserve evidence for examination.

State Fire Marshal investigators are aware of documented history of electrical issues at the home, but it has not yet been determined whether or not those issues were fixed before the incident.

No additional information is available for release at this time, but the investigation is still very much active and has not been turned over to insurance companies.
