Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb has signed House Bill 1058 into law, which is aimed at improving breast cancer prevention and screening within the state.
The new law updates the language in the state code related to breast density notification.
As per the law, mammography facilities would be required to send women letters stating whether their breasts are dense or not dense.
These letters would provide an explanation that dense tissue makes it harder to find cancer on a mammogram and that dense breasts may increase the risk of cancer.
