Police looking for people who fled South Bend crash scene

Two people were hurt in a crash that happened in South Bend and police are looking for several people who fled the crash scene.
The two-vehicle collision happened around 1 a.m. on Thursday, March 2, at Bendix Drive and Huron Street.
A vehicle driven by a 24-year-old Niles woman was traveling southbound on Bendix Drive and failed to stop at the stop sign and collided with a vehicle traveling westbound on Huron Street, driven by a 31-year-old South Bend woman. They also struck a parked car on Bendix Drive.
When officers arrived, an unknown number of occupants of the westbound vehicle had fled the scene on foot. The Niles woman was severely injured, as was a passenger of the second vehicle who remained trapped. The St. Joseph County Fatal Crash Team took over the investigation.
The crash remains under investigation by the St. Joseph County Fatal Crash Team. Anybody with information regarding the suspect vehicle is asked to contact Captain Tim Spencer with FACT at 574-235-7818 Ext. 7112.
