A man is in custody after a stolen vehicle pursuit and foot chase that happened around 5:20 a.m. on Friday.

Elkhart police officers initiated a traffic stop on a reportedly stolen Pontiac Firebird, but the Pontiac fled from the stop, with the suspect ditching the vehicle near Aeroplex and fleeing on foot.

The man was located nearby and taken into custody.

The vehicle was found to have been stolen out of Michigan.
