Four statewide office holders would be able to be armed in the Statehouse and in the state capitol complex property under a bill heading to Governor Holcomb.
Lawmakers removed part of the legislation that would have let staff of the four carry a weapon. The bill applies to the Attorney General, State Comptroller, State Treasurer, and Secretary Of State.
Opponents of the original bill did not like the staff provision that would have let an estimated 700 people be able to be armed.
It’s unclear if Governor Holcomb plans to sign the bill.
