This week is Severe Weather Awareness Week in Michigan and The Better Business Bureau wants to remind consumers to be wary of anyone going door-to-door offering storm cleanup assistance.
In January, the Michigan Attorney General’s office filed a lawsuit against Rockford business owner David Foster and his LLC’s for confusing customers about their rights and misleading them about the agreements they were signing, as well as exhibiting a pattern of charging grossly excessive prices for its tree services.
The A.G. claimed multiple victims hired Michigan’s Choice Tree Service after a tree or limb had fallen onto their homes as a result of a tornado or storm.
The AG’s office reached a settlement with Foster in which he agreed to pay $13,500 to cover customers’ losses, civil fines and lawsuit expenses.
