Benton Harbor City Commissioners are ending the water shutoff moratorium that was put in place during the pandemic.
At their meeting Monday, the commissioners agreed that now that the pandemic is over and the lead water lines are now replaced, the time has come for residents to start playing their water bills again.
Mayor Marcus Muhammad said he doesn’t want to see people get their service shut off, but the city is at roughly 30% collection and 70% delinquent, according to WSJM.
