Common Council votes in favor of some tax breaks for new entrepreneur hub

South Bend city council members have voted in favor of tax breaks totaling more than $830,000 to transform a building at South Main and Monroe Streets into a new entrepreneur hub.
ABC 57 News reports “Momentum Development Group” plans to invest more than $6.3 million into the building which used to be owned by the Salvation Army and then was used for the city’s Weather Amnesty Program.

Remember, that “tax break” has a cost. That’s $830,000 that every other tax payer will have to cover so the council could give away some freebies and make it look like they are doing something to support job creation. Ironically, much of this funding will come from employers who already have existing jobs.
