Four dogs and a cat were able to safely make it out of a house that was destroyed by a fire in LaPorte County on Thursday.

It happened on Fail Road around 9 a.m. where firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the single-story ranch along with flames shooting from the roof.

Nobody was home at the time, but an investigation is underway to find the cause of the fire.
