Three juveniles have been detained, and three firearms have been recovered following continued proactive policing efforts by the South Bend Police Department’s Strategic Focus Unit.

On Wednesday, April 17, just before 5 p.m., officers observed suspicious activity in the area of Ford Street and Bendix Drive and initiated a pedestrian stop on three juveniles.

The three then fled from the area, leading to a foot pursuit with several officers.

All three juveniles were ultimately taken into custody.

One of the juveniles was found to be in possession of a firearm. SFU officers also recovered two additional firearms in the path of the foot pursuit.

All three were taken to the Juvenile Justice Center.
