The Food Bank of Northern Indiana’s Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is coming up, and you don’t even have to leave your house.

It’s the 31st year of the food drive, where letter carriers in more than 10,000 communities will be collecting food donations along their postal routes to restock food banks and pantries.

The food bank’s goal is to collect 100,000 lbs. of non-perishable food items to restock the shelves for summer, when the need for food is high and donations are typically low.

Some items they’re hoping to collect are peanut butter, jelly, dried beans, boxed dinner meals, canned soups, canned fruits, flour, cooking oil, personal care items, cleaning supplies and more.

St. Joseph County residents will be receiving a postcard soon, and donations should be left out for carriers to collect on Saturday, May 11.
