It wasn’t a crime, after all.
A 78-year-old woman had contacted Goshen Police earlier this year to report her father’s bronze veteran’s memorial plaque stolen from Violet Cemetery.
The woman called Yoder Culp Funeral Home to file a claim.
Now, it turns ouy the plaque had not only sunk in, but it was covered under several inches of dirt and debris, so no theft actually occurred.

It’s quite telling that our civilization has reached a point that theft is a more likely culprit than natural causes.
