A number of alcohol violations at Silver Beach resulted in tickets and arrests over the Memorial Day Weekend.

Police in Berrien County remind visitors to the beach that alcohol and marijuana are both disallowed there. Officers were checking coolers during the holiday weekend, and there was a large police presence due to large fights that have broken out at the beach in the past.

The Sheriff’s Office told WSBT that they will be supplementing the overtime for the officers that will be covering the beach throughout the summer, and a new parking system is being planned for this year to help with the traffic flow.
