A Benton Harbor woman was arrested after allegedly stealing a vehicle and leading police on a chase.

Around 11 o’clock Thursday night the St. Joseph County Police were advised of a stolen Ford Focus that the Berrien County Sheriff’s department believed had crossed into Indiana.

Police were able to locate a vehicle matching the stolen one’s description, though the driver sped off and began driving erratically, fleeing back towards the US 31 bypass.

Stop-sticks were deployed, causing a tire of the Focus to deflate, though the vehicle continued on, reaching the Bypass and fleeing towards Michigan.

The driver lost control and crashed into a ditch about half a mile south of the Michigan state line. 29-year-old Anna-Alicia Bishop was arrested and booked on preliminary charges of Resisting Law Enforcement Using a Vehicle and Possession of Stolen Property.
