Michigan Secretary of State targeted by swatting

(95.3 MNC)
Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson revealed that she was targeted by false emergency calls designed to send armed police to her Detroit home.
In a social media statement, Benson described the incidents as so-called “swatting attacks,” where prank callers report fake emergencies to provoke a police response.
Bridge Michigan reports that Detroit’s Deputy City Clerk reported getting an anonymous email about a supposed hostage situation at Benson’s home.
He alerted the police and Benson’s office. Dispatch audio revealed police discussing talking about an increase in prank calls.
U.S. Senate candidates Elissa Slotkin and Mike Rogers were also targeted by similar attacks, last week.
