Community. gathers to remember children lost in South Bend house fire

It’s now been 8 months since the fire that took the lives of six young children…
The community gathered, Friday, to remember the six children who died in a house fire in South Bend. A re-dedication event took place on LaPorte Street, where a makeshift memorial stood since the tragic fire that claimed the lives of the “Smith 6.”
Organizers asked people to bring new teddy bears, balloons, and toys to honor the children… and the public responded in kind.
According to the Indiana State Fire Marshals office, the cause of the fire is still being investigated.
