UPDATE: The man who South Bend Police say killed a Riley High School student is now in custody. Derrick Myles is charged in the murder of 16-year-old Alyyus Enoexpettiford who was shot to death in June. Investigators alerted the public to be on-the-lookout for him last week. On Sunday afternoon, Aug. 25, Myles turned himself in at the South Bend Police Department this afternoon and has been transported to the St. Joseph County Jail.
ORIGINAL STORY: The South Bend Police Department is attempting to locate Derrick Myles, who has been charged in the murder of a 16-year-old in South Bend.
On Friday, June 14, around 5:45 p.m., South Bend Police were called to the 500 block of E. Victoria Street on the report of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers located 16-year-old Alyyus Enoexpettiford, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Enoexpettiford was transported to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Through an investigation by the South Bend Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit, 19-year-old Derrick Myles was identified as a suspect.
Last month, the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office charged Myles with Murder and a Firearm Enhancement in connection with this homicide. Today, the warrant is being unsealed in an effort to further aid in Myles’ apprehension.
Myles is known to have connections to both South Bend and Chicago.
