There’s a website Hoosiers can use to compare healthcare prices.
In 2020, state lawmakers passed a law establishing what they call an Indiana All Payer Claims Database (APCD). It was all done to increase transparency over the cost of healthcare. The website collects insurance claims data from both public and private healthcare payers to track the cost, utilization, and quality of healthcare across the state.
“Hoosiers deserve transparency when it comes to their healthcare, so that they are well-informed of the costs and quality of the provider. This new website is user-friendly and a great step toward lowering healthcare costs,” said State Representative J.D. Prescott of Union City.
He says it lets Hoosiers search what other patients have paid for common procedures across regions, providers, and insurance plans. Prescott says it’s also meant to inform Hoosiers seeking medical care, identify state healthcare needs, support healthcare policy, and improve both the quality and affordability of healthcare in Indiana.
