Four found dead in Wolcottville home following welfare check

A welfare check in Wolcottville turned tragic on Tuesday, Sep. 17, after police discovered the bodies of a woman and three children inside a home on South Main Street.

Wolcottville Police officers responded to the home around 11:20 a.m. and found an adult female and three children dead inside the home.

Indiana State Police were called to the scene, with detectives and crime scene investigators quickly arriving to gather evidence. According to authorities, preliminary findings suggest there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Autopsies were conducted on Wednesday on the five.

The Noble County Coroner has identified the adult as Rebecca Hughes, 32. The three children have been identified as Evelyn Newell, 8, Allison Newell, 6, and Amelia Newell, 5.

So far, there is no word about the cause and manner of their deaths.
