A recent poll from Indy Politics shows that Republicans are leading in all statewide races in Indiana this fall, with Mike Braun’s gubernatorial race being the closest.
The survey, conducted between September 23rd and 25th with 600 likely voters, found Donald Trump ahead of Kamala Harris by 16 points in the presidential race (55%-39%). In the U.S. Senate race, Republican Jim Banks leads Democrat Valerie McCray by 13 points (49%-35%), while Braun is up by 7 points against Democrat Jennifer McCormick (44%-37%). Attorney General Todd Rokita has a solid 15-point lead over Democrat Destiny Wells (51%-36%).
Pollster Andrew Weissert notes that while Republicans have a strong grip on the races, Braun’s campaign is particularly interesting. Libertarian candidate Ronald Rainwater is pulling in 9% of the vote, which may affect Braun’s support, as he has only 76% backing from Republicans.
The presidential race mirrors the 2020 results, where Trump defeated Biden 57%-41%. Trump’s support among Republicans is now at 93%, with a notable lead among Independents (47%-36%). In the Senate race, Banks leads McCray by 11 points among Independents and has a strong advantage with seniors (54%-32%). Rokita is also doing well, leading Independents 45%-26%.
Weissert believes Republicans could have a quick victory on Election Day, but McCormick doesn’t seem to have the momentum needed to challenge Braun effectively.
