A domestic dispute escalated into a stabbing.

It happened around 9:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1 in the 500 block of Hubbard Street in Mishawaka.

Upon arrival, officers found a 61-year-old woman suffering from multiple stab wounds. Emergency responders from the Mishawaka Fire Department quickly transported her to a local hospital, where she remains in stable condition.

The 61-year-old male suspect, who was still on the scene, was taken into custody without incident. Police say the stabbing resulted from an argument between the two, and a witness was present when authorities arrived.

While police believe this to be an isolated incident, the investigation is ongoing.
