Two people have died in a house fire in South Bend.

Crews were called to the home on Pear Road around 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2.

The home on Pear is located southwest of Quince and Edison Roads.

Mark Poland, age 72, and Janice Poland, age 70, residents of the Pear Road home were pronounced dead on scene from injuries suffered in the fire.

They were the only people in the house. There were no pets in the home. No cause for the fire has been given.
