Downtown St. Joseph to begin paid parking

Downtown St. Joseph will soon see paid parking, but some changes will be made.

Commissioners approved the start of paid parking for next summer during Tuesday’s meeting. Several businesses are pushing back against the plan.

The current plan is for paid parking only on the west side of Main Street and only during peak season from May 1 through September 30.

A request for downtown residents and employees that could include passes has also been made.
