Tecumseh schools are asking voters to approve a tax increase for building repairs.

The district is pushing for a $7.5 million tax increase over five years to fund repairs for Tecumseh’s aging school buildings.

This request is much smaller than the $88.5 million proposal rejected two years ago.

Tecumseh is one of over 50 Michigan districts asking for funding in November, with schools statewide seeking nearly $1 billion in bonds.

However, Bridge Michigan states that almost half of this year’s bond requests have already been rejected.
