City of Elkhart’s 2025 budget is set

The City of Elkhart’s 2025 budget was set at a special meeting of the Elkhart Common Council.

According to Elkhart Mayor Rod Roberson’s office, the $126 million spending plan allows for strategic investments in infrastructure, public safety, quality of place, and neighborhoods, and includes money to be used for paving roads to updating parks, from renovating a downtown landmark to removing invasive plant species, and everything in between.

The ordinances includes the operating budget and salary ordinances for every department, expect for the fire department.

The 2025 fire salary ordinance will be up for consideration during the next regular meeting of the Elkhart Common Council which is at 6 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 21.
