Benton Harbor man in custody after breaking and entering left woman dead

A Benton Harbor man is in custody after a breaking and entering that left a woman dead.

The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office say around 5:15 a.m. on Thursday morning they responded to a call.

Upon arrival, an unresponsive female was located at the residence.

Life saving measures were taken to attempt to save the 55-year-old Sister Lakes woman, but they were unsuccessful.

A suspect was taken into custody, though more information is being withheld as the investigation is ongoing.
