The Elkhart County Traffic Safety Partnership is preparing to increase patrol visibility as Thanksgiving approaches.

The annual Safe Family Travel campaign, which starts November 16, focuses on impaired driving, aggressive driving and proper use of seatbelts.

Officers will be working overtime during the busy travel season, and they’re encouraging travelers to slow down, avoid distractions, designate a sober driver and buckle up.

They say whether you’re planning to drive across the country, across town, or across the street, the driver and all passengers need to wear a seat belt. If you encounter an impaired or unsafe driver, call 911.
