City of Mishawaka: Weekend shootings may be related

The City of Mishawaka has suffered a series of shooting incidents over the past week. It appears that the incidents may be related. The men and women of the Mishawaka Police Dept. are working diligently to investigate the incidents and identify the parties involved.

On 11/16/2024 @ approx. 2245 PM a home in the 200 block of Baker St. was struck by gunfire. No injuries were reported in this incident.

On 11/17/2024 @ approx. 0430 AM a 15-year-old male was struck by gunfire while inside of a home in the 200 block of Donaldson Ave. The gunfire was from outside of the home and directed at the residence. The male victim was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. He was treated and released.

On 11/17/2024 @ approx. 2345 PM a 13-year-old female was struck by gunfire while inside of a home in the 1700 block of Linden Ave. The gunfire was from outside of the home and directed at the residence. The female was taken to the hospital for serious, but stable injuries. She has been airlifted to Riley Hospital for further treatment.

On 11/17/2024 @ approx. 2350 PM a home in the 1000 block of Jackson St. was struck by gunfire. No injuries were reported in this incident.

In these shooting cases, injuries were reported to a total of two teenage juveniles. No arrests have been made at this time and the Detective Bureau is continuing to follow up on several leads. In addition to interviewing several witnesses, video surveillance recordings are actively being reviewed. While citizens should always be vigilant and aware of their surroundings, initial investigative information does not indicate a need to deter from normal life activities.  Please continue to report on any suspicious activities so that the Police Department can respond and follow up.

Unrelated to the above listed incidents, the Mishawaka Police Dept has investigated two other incidents involving a firearm being discharged over the last few days.  One incident was a report of a gunshot on Lincolnway East in the Twin Branch area.  One spent ballistic casing was located, but no suspects or victims were located and there were no reported injuries.  The second case involved a self-inflicted accidental discharge with minor injury

HORRIBLE COWARDS Is there any way for citizens to contribute to a reward fund??? Thee must be many cartridge cases on the street from the firing from a car Wharf CALIBER? SAME Firearm’s at all crime shootings?
