Crash Near Goshen Leads to Injuries and Arrests

A rear-end collision on County Road 36 near Brinkley Way West, just outside Goshen, resulted in multiple injuries and two arrests.

The accident occurred at approximately 1:50 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30, when a Lincoln Continental, driven by Ronald Wing, 44, of Elkhart, struck the rear of a stopped Mercedes-Benz Metris.

According to authorities, Wing was traveling westbound at an unsafe speed and failed to stop in time to avoid the collision.

Wing sustained minor knee pain and was treated at Goshen Hospital. He was later taken into custody and charged with operating while intoxicated, possession of paraphernalia, and unlawful possession of a hypodermic needle.

The driver of the Mercedes, a 38-year-old Southgate, Michigan woman, complained of chest, neck, and back pain and was also treated at Goshen Hospital.

A passenger in the Mercedes, Richard Monschein, 42, of Elkhart, suffered facial abrasions and a back fracture. He was hospitalized for his injuries. Monschein was also arrested on charges of possession of paraphernalia and an outstanding warrant.

Both Wing and Monschein were booked into the Elkhart County Jail following the crash.
