Several groups in South Bend are speaking out against a proposal to turn Coquillard Elementary School into a career hub for St. Joseph County.
On Monday, the JAX Aspire Foundation, the NAACP, Black Lives Matter South Bend, and other community members held a press conference to voice their concerns.
The South Bend Community School Corporation is considering repurposing the school due to its low enrollment in recent years.
District officials believe the site could provide more opportunities for students across the county.
