South Bend School Board votes against repurposing Coquillard Elementary School

The South Bend School Board has voted against repurposing Coquillard Elementary School into a career and technical education center for high school students. This, as some community members believed the idea to do so was rushed — a claim the district denies.

Superintendent Dr. Todd Cummings previously said the change would ensure equal access to CTE programs for all students.

The future home of a county career center could be voted on again, by the new board starting as early as next month.
