A Wanatah woman is facing charges for allegedly inflicting serious physical punishment on her adopted son.

62-year-old Laurie Lentz is facing two counts of domestic battery after police became involved in late March. Reports say a South Central School received reports of evidence of the alleged acts.

Evidence includes several photos of purple marks on the child’s bottom, as well as 15 smacking sounds and screams from the boy captured on a video recording in the family’s home.

According to investigators, the injuries were found to have been inflicted with a computer cord and a cooking spoon. Documents say the punishment was over poor grades on the boy’s report card and for him not putting the computer cord where it is normally stored after using it.

Lentz was arrested on December 12 and could face between one and six years on each count.
