The Indiana Crime Guns Task Force made 232 arrests in 2024 after investigating more than 150 leads, taking aim at illegal firearms and drug activity across the state.
“The numbers have gone up for federal arrests this year,” said IMPD Lt. Jered Hidlebaugh. “The firearms have been pretty consistent with what we seized last year, but we’ve taken more machine gun conversion devices.”
The task force seized over 270 illegal firearms, more than 75,500 grams of drugs, and nearly $400,000 in cash linked to criminal activity.
Among those arrested, 16 face federal charges for firearms and drug-related offenses. Additional suspects are targeted by state and federal warrants.
“We are very proud of that,” said ATF Assistant Special Agent in Charge John Nokes, highlighting the agency’s role in the task force. “I think the criminals need to take notice that we are serious about working together.”
Fishers Police reported their own success with the task force, saying nearly 500 illegal guns have been taken off the streets in the city since 2019.
The task force includes 10 officers from local, state, and federal agencies, working together to disrupt illegal operations statewide.
