Indiana Army National Guard solider killed in Iraq in non-combat incident

An Indiana Army National Guard solider has died in Iraq in a non-combat incident, according to the U.S. Department of Defense.

Captain Eric Richard Hart, 34, of Indianapolis, died during the incident Saturday. An investigation into what happened is currently ongoing.

Hart was involved in Operation Inherent Resolve, which was the military’s name for the international war against Syria, which included campaigns in both Syria and Iraq.

Hart was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, 38th Infantry Division, Indiana National Guard in Indianapolis.
