State employees will not be getting pay raises this year. Instead, Governor Eric Holcomb has announced that they will be getting one-time bonuses in January.

The governor explained that most full-time employees hired to the state’s executive branch will be getting an additional $1,250 in their January 15th paychecks. Most part-time/intermittent employees will get $650.

In a letter, Holcomb said the stipend will be given to those hired on or before December 20th of this year. He noted that he wants to “recognize [their] efforts,” but in a way that the “budget…will support.”

According to the Indiana Capital Chronicle, there are currently about 32,000 full-time employees serving the Hoosier state.

In recent years, pay for those positions has increased. But, elected officials – including the governor, lieutenant governor, and attorney general – will be the ones getting salary boosts in the upcoming year.
