The Elkhart Fire Department responded to a possible fire at Old Farm Apartments. It happened around 10:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 27.

Crews arrived to find smoke coming from the front door as residents evacuated. Firefighters entered the building and found flames in the hallway. Ground ladders were used to rescue people from the balconies.

The American Red Cross is helping the displaced residents. No injuries were reported., The cause of the fire is under investigation.
