Indiana 4th grade students rank 6th in nation for reading

Indiana students have improved to 6th in the nation in fourth grade reading according to results from the annual “National Assessment of Educational Progress” rankings.
It’s the highest Indiana has ever ranked in fourth grade reading. Eighth grade reading also rose to 6th in the nation.
Scores on eighth grade math dropped two notches to 13th.
On the national scale, the report shows average reading scores for eighth and fourth-graders down 5 points. In math, 4th graders are down 3 percent. 8th graders slid 8 percent.
