A Dowagiac man has been found guilty on six gun related charges after a dramatic incident in the courtroom.

Robert Scott was arrested on an outstanding warrant in May, when they found a gun and two bullets in Scott’s jacket. Past felony convictions prohibited from possessing the firearm.

In April of 2023, Scott reportedly punched his Defense Attorney in the face and stated that he wanted his attorney to step down so he could handle his own case.

WSBT says he defended himself from that point on. However, he has appeared in court in a wheelchair, claiming to be suffering from a medical episode, refusing to open his eyes or answer any questions in front of the judge.

However, a nurse cleared him of any medical emergencies. Scott was found guilty of all six charges and was scheduled for sentencing on February 21.
