A Stevensville woman has been sentenced for tampering with evidence in the November homicide of an Eau Claire firefighter.
43-year-old Elizabeth Deanne Harper pleaded guilty and got 180 days in jail, two years of probation, 100 hours of community service, and nearly $700 dollars in fines.
Originally charged as an accessory after the fact in Chad Medlin’s shooting death, that charge was dropped in a plea deal. Rigoberto Gomez faces open murder and five other felony charges.
According to Leader Publications, police say Harper picked up Gomez after the incident and later admitted to discarding guns she found in the yard. In court, Harper expressed remorse, calling her actions a terrible mistake.
