Millions of dollars in road and bridge improvement are making their way to Michiana.
Grants provided through the Community Crossings Matching Grant Program will help advance community infrastructure projects, strengthen local transportation networks and improve roads and bridges in Indiana.
The Department of Transportation matches up to $1.5 million annually when localities invest in the repairs.
Counties with more than 50,000 people and cities qand towns with over 10,000 receive a 50/50 match, while counties with less than 50,000 and cities and towns with less than 10,000 receive a 75/25 match.
Elkhart County, St. Joseph County and South Bend will each receive $1.5 million, and Elkhart will receive $1.4 million
