One of two men accused of burglarizing an Elkhart storage unit had a trial status conference last week.

Reports say about $7,000 worth of items were stolen from a storage unit at Storage Rentals of America. Surveillance footage from Benders Handy Spot showed a suspect vehicle parked nearby, which two men got out of and went to the storage units.

Wayne Barham, the driver, was found carrying box cutters and had reportedly removed the license plate from the vehicle.

Reports say the suspects tried to sell the stolen tires, and when police arrived, Barham was present.

He was charged with burglary and pleaded guilty to other charges including meth and marijuana possession and resisting law enforcement in previous cases as well as the burglary charge. He’ll be sentenced on April 10.
