The driver who passed a stopped PHM school bus on Ash Road and nearly hit two students boarding the bus has been identified.
The driver, 23-year-old Shau-Ri Sparkle Rae Rose, contacted the police department and is fully cooperating with the investigation.
The St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office has formally charged Rose with two felony counts of Criminal Recklessness and issued a warrant has been issued for her arrest.
The incident happened early this week on Ash Road.
Police want to remind all drivers: When you see flashing lights on a school bus it means “stop.”

Read Her explanation and excuse From my experience, the complex the explanation, the more likely it is false
Agreed. What happened to yelling, “Don’t make me pull this car over! Put that seatbelt back ..”
…oh wait, maybe it did happen this way..??
Still! You have to watch for kids along the road!
🙂
I’ve read a lot of posts. People are glad that she turned herself into the authorities, but honestly, it was merely a matter of time before they came to her.
So much social media support, …there is no hiding. I must say, there is something amazing about working with fellow super-sleuths & other knowledgeable people that put together facts and information. Today’s detective work, which can be accomplished and relayed to the masses (without leaving your seat) speaks loudly.
I personally wouldn’t want to try to go up against it!
So, i guess this brings me to my point. This event, is truly about HER character.
She was in the wrong; She knew she was in the wrong; She fled the scene.
She IS the driver that performs a “Hit & Run”.
It’s all on camera. It’s right there. Her actions tell it all.
She should have stopped. She should have checked, to be certain EVERYONE was alright, not just a visual glance, and definitely touched basis with the Bus Driver.
Fleeing the scene just shows her priorities. –> Herself.
So, i might be brash, but i don’t want to hear about, ‘what a great person she is, for coming forward’. She knew that walls were closing in. She knew she was exposed.
She was distracted, and likely would have injured the 15 & 17 year old kids, if they were younger & less alert.
I agree with David.
I have all the information now.

Here, you can read the affidavit.
I wasn’t aware that a witness super-sleuth followed and provided the police with Shau-Ri’s information.
So often people see something and say nothing. I am glad that this ‘Concerned Citizen’ was able to gather the information without putting herself in harms way.
I still stand by my comment, that if the requests for social media involvement hadn’t been initiated, she wouldn’t have tried to contact the police. So, “No”, she still doesn’t get a pass from me.
But, maybe a little more leniency for her confession and proof that she attempted to contact the police.
She still knew she was in the wrong, passing the bus, but did it anyway. In itself, that is a Class A infraction fineable to $10,000 & a 90 day suspension.
Yet, she still fled the scene without concern about anyone but herself, and getting her passenger to his Day Care.
Seems like there should be something to come of that too. What? I don’t know.
She knew it was wrong. Maybe she should come up with a fair punishment for herself. Or, Community Service?
Because Shau-Ri watched the news/social media, and attempted to call, twice… i don’t think that we need to charge her with anything beyond the offence from that day.
Maybe pay for the County’s Court cost, and Sargent Lee’s time.
Indiana created this law to protect their children. It’s time to use it.
$10K is a lesson’s learned.
Removing a child, from this Earth, ..that would have cost her more than money and a suspension, or, anything else she could ever offer.. I hope she realises this.
Accidents happen. But when you don’t correct them… that’s where ‘we’ differ.
Throw the book at her! However it doesn’t have to be a copy of the Unabridged English Oxford Dictionary. A nice Science Fiction Comedy novel (Hardback) ought to do.
