High-visibility traffic safety blitz nets significant results on US 20

A coordinated effort involving 100 law enforcement officers from twelve states, on Wednesday, Marc aimed at enhancing traffic safety on US 20 has yielded substantial outcomes, officials reported.
Led by deputies from LaPorte County, four officers participated in a targeted initiative during peak travel hours. The operation’s focus was to bolster awareness and enforce traffic regulations along the busy highway stretch.
During the two-hour enforcement period, local deputies conducted 33 traffic stops, issuing 24 warnings – including 18 for speeding and 6 for other violations – and 9 citations, primarily for speeding and one for driving with a suspended license.
Across the coast-to-coast effort encompassing Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, and Massachusetts, officers collectively made 707 traffic stops. This resulted in 178 warnings, 513 citations – predominantly for speeding offenses – and provided assistance to 15 drivers in need. Additionally, one warrant was executed during the operation.
Addressing the outcomes, Administrative Captain Derek J. Allen emphasized the ongoing safety concerns on US 20 due to frequent crashes and traffic complaints. He urged motorists to comply with traffic regulations, minimize distractions, and adopt defensive driving practices. Looking ahead, the Sheriff’s Office reaffirmed its commitment to conducting similar high-visibility enforcement campaigns to enhance safety along US 20.

How about law enforcement telling semis to stay in the right lane and to stop frustrating drivers by creating rolling roadblocks. 9/10 that leads to frustrated drivers speeding to get around them and unsafe road conditions.
