Crash between SUV, buggy leaves one child dead, another injured

A crash between an SUV and an Amish buggy in Lawrence Township killed an 8-year-old girl. It happened Wednesday morning, March 26, on County Road 215 near 60th Avenue in Lawrence Township…
The Michigan State Police investigation shows a 31-year-old Mattawan woman driving the SUV rear-ended the buggy, which had a 12-year-old boy and an 8-year-old girl inside.
The boy was critically injured and taken to the hospital, while the girl died from her injuries. The horse also died.
The SUV driver was arrested and taken to Van Buren County Jail for Operating Under the Influence of an Unknown Substance. Neither she nor her passengers were hurt.
