A large amount of stolen property has been recovered and two subjects have been arrested following an investigation led by the LaPorte County Drug Task Force.
The arrests are a result of an ongoing investigation into Dealing in a Controlled Substance.
It was back on March 12, the officers from LaPorte County, Michigan City Police Department SWAT, and the Michigan City Detective Bureau executed a search warrant in the 400 block of Hoyt Street in Michigan City.
During the search, detectives observed miscellaneous tools that matched the description of tools reported stolen in late January from the newly constructed Chick-fil-A on Franklin Street.
With assistance from the LaPorte County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, an additional search warrant was obtained for the tools. The search warrant was issued, the scene was processed, and evidence was collected. Approximately $9,000 worth of stolen property was recovered.
Following the search warrant, Kyle Fugate and Marisa Meeks were arrested. Fugate was arrested for Dealing in a Schedule II Controlled Substance (L3 Felony) and Meeks was arrested for Dealing in a Schedule II Controlled Substance (L2 Felony).
