You may notice heavier police presence over the next few weeks.

That’s due to an annual traffic safety campaign. Indiana State Police will participate in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s campaign, looking for people speeding or driving while distracted.

Over 17,000 crashes happened in Indiana last year as a result of distracted driving and speeding, causing 230 deaths.

Motorists can expect to see an increase in roving and high-visibility patrols during the campaign, which is happening from April 5th through 19th.
