Another round of strong to severe storms is on the way as many are still cleaning up from Sunday’s storms.
An area of low pressure with accompanying warm and cold fronts will bring waves of showers and thunderstorms to the Great Lakes Wednesday.
Once again, the threat for strong to severe storms is possible.
All modes of severe weather are possible on Wednesday, though the greatest risk is for damaging winds. Hail and even tornadoes are still not out of the question.
In addition to this, the low pressure system and associated cold front will move slower than Sunday’s boundary, meaning there is an increased threat for localized flooding.
Showers and an occasional thunderstorm will move into Michiana early Wednesday morning. These storms are not expected to be severe, but could contain some small hail and will add moisture to the atmosphere.
Some uncertainties are added to the forecast around mid-afternoon when there could be an early wave of showers and thunderstorms. The longer these stay in our area, the harder it will be for another round of storms to develop later. Those storms could eat away at instability in the atmosphere.
If the energy remains, the strongest storms could arrive late Wednesday evening ahead of the cold front. These storms could contain all modes of severe weather, including hail up to golf ball size.
These storms will move out of the area early Thursday morning.
