The City of South Bend will commemorate the completion of the Martin Luther King Jr. Dream Center with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, April 4 at 11 a.m.
The celebration will begin with a commemorative march at 10 a.m., starting at the Civil Rights Heritage Center at 1040 W. Washington Street and ending at the newly completed Dream Center at 1522 Linden Ave.
The march honors the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who was assassinated 57 years ago on April 4, 1968.
Following the ceremony, Dream Center staff will offer tours of the new facility. While construction on the building is finished, city officials note that final site improvements are still underway, and programming at the center has not yet begun.
The event is open to the public.
